The Beauty of Botanical Butters
The Beauty of Botanical Butters
Why rich plant butters have a special place in our handcrafted bath & body rituals
There is something wonderfully simple about botanical butters. Rich, creamy and naturally luxurious, they are among the ingredients we love most at Seawater Bathworks.
While shea butter may be the name most people recognize, the botanical world offers an extraordinary variety of plant butters—each with its own texture, character and feel on the skin.
Cupuaçu butter has a wonderfully soft, creamy texture and is especially lovely in products designed to leave skin feeling conditioned and supple.
Murumuru butter is silky and lightweight, bringing richness without an overly heavy feel.
Tucuma butter has a firmer texture and a beautifully smooth skin feel, making it a lovely addition to balms and other concentrated body-care products.
Kokum butter is naturally firm and less greasy-feeling than many softer butters. We especially love the structure and luxurious finish it can bring to handcrafted formulas.
And then there is shea butter—a beloved classic prized for its rich, comforting texture and versatility in soaps, balms and body care.
What we find most beautiful is what happens when these ingredients are thoughtfully combined. Rather than relying on a single butter, a carefully considered blend can bring together creaminess, firmness, glide and a beautifully conditioned after-feel.
For us, choosing ingredients is part of the craft.
We want our products to feel special from the moment you pick them up to the moment they touch your skin—whether it's the creamy lather of a handcrafted soap, the richness of a balm or the simple pleasure of a daily bathing ritual.
It is one more way we bring a little luxury to the everyday.
Thoughtful ingredients. Handcrafted in small batches. Inspired by the beauty of nature and the sea.
