Long before elaborate beauty routines, there were plants—lavender gathered for its unmistakable fragrance, rosemary crushed between the fingertips, olive prized for its richness, roses treasured for their perfume, and citrus blossoms filling the air with their delicate scent.

At Seawater Bathworks, we are drawn to that simpler relationship with botanicals. Not because we want to recreate an old-fashioned apothecary, but because there is something timeless about beginning with ingredients inspired by nature and transforming them into small rituals of everyday care.

Our Botanical Palette

Walk through the Seawater Bathworks collection and you'll notice many of the same botanicals appearing again and again. Lavender brings its familiar herbal-floral character to some of our most calming coastal-inspired creations, while rosemary is greener and more invigorating—especially beautiful alongside juniper and other fresh botanical notes. Olive represents the quieter side of our collection: earthy, simple and understated.

Rose brings softness and romance, from the delicate character of Sea Rose to the richer personality of Damask Rose. Citrus and citrus blossoms add brightness, with lemon, bergamot and neroli each bringing their own character and that wonderful sense of freshness that feels so naturally connected to sun and sea. Juniper adds something different again—green, aromatic and slightly woodsy, perfectly at home beside rosemary, lavender and the rugged landscape of the coast.

Individually, each botanical has a personality. Together, they have become part of the language of Seawater Bathworks.

Inspired by the Garden, Softened by the Coast

Our approach to botanicals is intentionally restrained. We don't want every product to look like a bouquet or every fragrance to smell like a flower garden. Instead, we take inspiration from the colors, textures and aromas of plants and allow them to become part of a larger coastal story: muted sage leaves against warm ivory, a sprig of lavender beside pale stone, the soft blush of a rose, the yellow of fresh citrus and the deep blue-black of juniper berries.

Botanical doesn't have to mean floral. It can be herbal and green, bright and citrusy, soft and romantic, earthy and grounding. A lavender bar can feel completely different from rosemary and juniper. Neroli blossoms tell a different story than Damask rose, and bergamot has a character all its own. Yet when they're brought together, there is a connection between them. They belong to the same garden.

A Modern Coastal Apothecary

Perhaps apothecary is an old word, but we love what it evokes: simple ingredients, botanicals gathered with purpose and preparations made thoughtfully and in small quantities. Our interpretation is lighter—less dark wood and mysterious bottles, more sunlight, linen, pale stone, muted sage and the colors of the coast.

It is an apothecary with the windows open and the sea somewhere nearby.

And in many ways, that describes Seawater Bathworks perfectly. We take inspiration from the botanical world, pair it with our love of the coast and turn it into something meant to be used, not merely admired—a beautiful bar beside the sink, a bath bomb dissolving into warm water, a little balm smoothed onto the cuticles or a scrub incorporated into a bathing ritual.

Small things, perhaps, but sometimes the smallest rituals are the ones that make an ordinary day feel beautiful.
